Trump exits White House grounds for first time since March 28

WASHINGTON (U.S.) – President of the U.S. Donald Trump who had been restricted to the White House for weeks due to the coronavirus lockdown in the country since March 28th, flew to Camp David, Maryland for a weekend away at the presidential retreat.

It marked the first time Trump left the White House grounds since March 28 when his Marine One helicopter left the South Lawn. Trump visited Norfolk, Virginia, to see the U.S. Navy hospital ship Comfort set sail for New York harbour.

Trump announced he would be practising social distancing at Camp David but he plans a working weekend which will include phone calls with foreign leaders.

Trump is expected to return to Washington on Sunday for a Fox News Channel “virtual town hall” event at the Lincoln Memorial.

Trump is also planning a trip to Phoenix, Arizona, on Tuesday. U.S. Vice President Mike Pence has made a handful of trips out of Washington to check on coronavirus relief efforts.
