Heathrow Airport passenger demand drops 90% in April

LONDON (UK) – Europe’s usually busiest airport, Heathrow forecast a passenger demand plunge of over 90% in April.

This comes as coronavirus restrictions hinder most people from travelling.

Heathrow announced that its passenger numbers were down 52% in March as compared to the same period last year. Most of those journeys were Britons returning home from abroad.

Heathrow Airport, owned by a group of investors including Spain’s Ferrovial, the Qatar Investment Authority and China Investment Corp, is now only using one of its two runways, with cargo flights continuing.
