Boris Johnson’s coronavirus symptoms get worse, moved to intensive care

LONDON (UK) – With worsening coronavirus symptoms, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been moved to an intensive care unit for treatment.

At this moment, his foreign minister Dominic Raab is deputising for him in the country’s fight against the coronavirus.

55-year-old Johnson was admitted to central London’s St Thomas’ Hospital late on Sunday evening due to symptoms of the virus which included a high fever remaining persistent for over ten days.

Over the next 24 hours, his condition got worse and he was shifted to the intensive care unit. He was still conscious as he received oxygen.

Downing Street stated that it was a precaution to move him to intensive care lest he needed ventilation to speed up his recovery.

“The PM has asked Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, who is the First Secretary of State, to deputise for him where necessary.”
