UK production run’s first ventilators due this weekend

LONDON (UK) – The first batch of medical ventilators which Britain recently ordered from businesses shall be ready by this weekend and will be available to the British National Health Service (NHS) by next week, as the UK seeks to boost ventilator capacity in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

10,000 ventilators have been ordered by Britain from a consortium including Ford, Airbus and McLaren with other companies like Dyson also producing equivalents.

“This weekend the first thousands of new ventilator devices will roll off the production line and be delivered to the NHS next week. From there they will be rapidly distributed to the front line.”

The first delivery is supposed 30 units coming from the Penlon model which is a rapid adaptation of existing ventilator devices and has received regulatory approval. Hundreds of more ventilators could follow, according to the government.
