MEXICO CITY – The Mexican economy ministry detected a cyberattack on a few of its servers but it doesn’t seem like sensitive information has been compromised.

Following the attack, the Mexico economy ministry has beefed up their security measures.

This is the second high-profile attack on the government. The previous incident took place last November when $5 million was demanded by the hackers in bitcoin from Pemex, forcing a nationwide computer shutdown.

The temporary isolation of networks and servers have been asked to providers and processing of certain forms might be suspended on a temporary basis to protect their legal status.

A ransom demand has not yet been made apparent.
