Woman admits plot to bomb London’s St Paul’s cathedral

LONDON – On Friday, a woman scoped out of London’s St Paul’s cathedral as a possible bomb target has pleaded guilty on two terrorism offences.

36-year-old Saffiya Shaikh from Hayes, west London has been remanded in custody before sentencing at Old Bailey on May 11th.

Last October, Shaikh was charged with preparing acts of terrorism like making contact with someone who could aid her in preparing explosives and conducting reconnaissance staying in a hotel.

According to the statement of charges, Shaikh selected the hotel as an explosion target using an explosive device and then scoped out St Paul’s Cathedral for placement of a second bomb.

She had also prepared words of an Islamic State pledge of allegiance.

The second charge is related to disseminating terrorist publications.
