LONDON – On Thursday, the Financial Times reported that U.S. President Donald Trump was “apoplectic” during a phone call with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s decision to allow China’s Huawei to play a role in the UK’s 5G mobile network.

The U.S. President was livid on the conversation after Johnson announced the decision to allow a limited role to Huawei in the 5G network in the country despite warnings from the U.S.

Following the call, which took place on January 28th, Johnson’s office revealed that they had nothing further to be added to their statement regarding the Huawei decision.

“The prime minister underlined the importance of like-minded countries working together to diversify the market and break the dominance of a small number of companies,” that statement said.
