LONDON- On Monday, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he would make a decision regarding Huawei’s role in the country’s upcoming 5G network so as to give Britons all the benefits without a compromise on national security.

Johnson will meet on Tuesday with senior ministers to arrive at a decision on whether to restrict or ban the use of Huawei equipment in 5G networks in the UK.

Johnson faces pressure from the U.S. to not give Huawei a role in the 5G networks over fears that the company will gain access to British secrets. The Chinese company denies being a vehicle for Chinese intelligence.

The British PM believes that there is a method for the consumers in his country to enjoy the new technology without a compromise on security relationships with the Five Eyes intelligence alliance.

Johnson says that there is no reason to not have technological progress allowing consumers and business to enjoy access to the fantastic technology while protecting their security interests and protecting key partnerships with global security powers.

Last week, British officials supposedly proposed granting Huawei a limited role in the country’s 5G network.
