Iran’s launching of more than a dozen missiles at American-led forces in Iraq earlier today came after years of preparing for a confrontation with its superpower foe. Iran launched a missile attack on U.S.-led forces in Iraq in retaliation for the U.S. drone strike on an Iranian commander whose killing has raised fears of a wider war in the Middle East. Iran fired more than a dozen ballistic missiles from its territory against at least two Iraqi facilities hosting U.S.-led coalition personnel at about 1:30 a.m. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said that Tehran’s missile attacks on U.S. targets in Iraq were “a slap on the face” for the United States. British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said that the UK condemns the attack on the military bases in Iraq hosting Coalition including British forces.
