We’re finally rung in 2020! Here’s a quick summary of what has happened around the world over the last exciting and celebratory 24 hours, brought to you exclusively by British Herald

Local News

Ringing in the New Year has never been so great for local news! We love how everyone’s becoming more environmentally aware and care about climate change and we hope to see more of that throughout 2020. To begin with, Britain, the birthplace of coal power, produced more electricity from zero-carbon sources (wind, solar, nuclear) than from fossil fuel plants for the first time last year. Prince William launched a multi-million-pound Earthshot prize to encourage the world’s greatest problem-solvers to find answers to Earth’s biggest environmental problems.

Also, Boris Johnson is all set for a fantastic year and a remarkable decade with plans to get the nation back together next year when we finally leave the EU

World

The entire world is celebrating and has welcomed 2020 in style with fireworks displays– all around the world from Sydney to here in London to New York. However, there are huge dampers on the celebrations with clouding from the deadly Australian wildfires, Hong Kong protests and the Citizenship Law protests in India, not to forget the North Korea nuclear tensions.
