Dr Frank F Islam awarded Sir Syed Global Philanthropist Excellence Award 2018

Dr. Frank F Islam was awarded Sir Syed Global Excellence & Leadership awards 2018 in the field of Philanthropist on 22nd December at an event held at The Palm, Atlantis. Sir Syed Global excellence & Leadership award was organized by the Alumni of the Aligarh Muslim University to facilitate the successful people it produced over the years. The award was named after AMU’s founder Sir Syed Ahmad Khan. Speaking to Gulf news, Pushkin Agha – Managing Director of Vertex Events said “ This is the first event held to recognize AMU alumni who have excelled in their field. Leading establishments such as Forbes and Harvard University have awards of their Alumni. AMU is a prestigious institution that is almost 100 years old; our alumni are spread around the world. So this event will bring them together and recognize their achievements on an international platform.”

Dr. Islam an Indian – American entrepreneur and philanthropist takes huge pride in being the Alma matter of AMU. He recently donated around $3 million to AMU for a new complex for business management studies. Talking about the dedication of the complex he said “ While the bricks and mortar are important, far more important is what will go on in this setting. It will be a place for sharing of information and imparting and development of knowledge. It will be a place for sharing of information and imparting and development of knowledge. It will be a place where faculty and students can collaborate on innovative projects. It will be an educational empowerment zone”. He went on to add,” From this management complex will come the future leaders who will make the world a better place.” Along with his wife, My Islam has supported many scholarships at colleges in the United state & India. He can be regarded as a person who climbed the ladder and is on a pursuit of laying more ladders so that he can help the next generation climb.

He credits his success to AMU. It is AMU that helped and made him the man he is now. It gave him the basic building blocks to become a successful entrepreneur with great responsibilities on his shoulder and to become a passionate leader. His investment back into AMU is his way of showing gratitude and thanking the prestigious institution for the foundation is laid for his own future.

Among the winners along with Dr. Islam were Hamid Ansari – Former Vice President of India (administration excellence) and Indian filmmaker Anubhav Sinha (Filmmaker Award).
