PARIS (Reuters) – Hard-left French CGT trade union members at Total’s <TOTF.PA> refineries in France will meet at midday at various sites to decide on any further course of action regarding an ongoing strike in the oil sector over wage and bonuses.

CGT spokesman Thierry Defresne said on Monday that CGT members were still waiting for a response from management on the proposal the union made on Saturday to open negotiations.

“Management promised a response without saying when it will give it. The next step will be decided by the striking workers at the general assemblies at midday,” Defresne said.

After three days of strikes last week that curb output and disrupted some suppliers, the union called on its members to shut down operations at three of Total refineries in France on Monday afternoon if a final proposal to negotiate bonuses is rejected by management.
